Finance resume — templates, keywords, and bullet examples

Finance resumes reward precision and conservative formatting. A multi-column visual template is the wrong choice; Harvard or Atlas are the safe defaults.

How to angle a finance resume

Lead with the most senior P&L exposure you've owned. "Owned the $40M FP&A budget for the EMEA business" is the headline you want in line two.

Bullets should name the modelling skill and the decision it informed: "Built a 3-statement model that drove the board's $20M Series B raise" beats "Built financial models".

Section order: Summary → Experience → Skills → Education → Certifications (CPA / CFA / FRM).

ATS keywords recruiters filter on

These are the keywords most finance JDs use as their ATS-filter inputs. Make sure the ones you genuinely have evidence for are in your Skills section.

Bullet examples you can adapt

Three starter bullets following the action-verb / quantified-outcome pattern. Replace bracketed placeholders with your actual specifics — never invent.

Owned the $40M EMEA FP&A budget; built the quarterly variance review that became the CFO's primary decision artefact.
Built the 3-statement model that supported the $20M Series B raise; presented to the board.
Led the NetSuite implementation across 4 entities, cutting month-end close from 11 days to 5.
